Skiiing Champ Sarah Burke Dies From Ski Accident Injuries
Sarah Burke is known as being one of the best female athletes on the slopes. She won first place at the 2001 US Freeskiing Open for the half-pipe event and second in slope style. She’s also the first world champion in the half-pipe.
Most notably, Sarah is a four time gold medal champion at the X Games for freestyle skiing.
On January 10, Sarah was training in Park City, Utah when she crashed on the slope and suffered severe injuries. Her injuries caused her to go into cardiac arrest. She was revived and taken to the hospital via helicopter, which is when she was rushed into surgery to fix a tear in a major artery that was caused by the crash.
Unfortunately, Sarah wasn’t able to pull out of the surgery and she was left on life support.
Sarah was married to Rory Bushfield, who is also a well-known skier.
